FÊTE DU SARRASIN - 3ème édition

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14,
BUCKWHEAT FEST-DEIZ

The 3rd edition of the Buckwheat Festival - on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Breizh Café farm in Saint Coulomb, will shine with its lively gastronomy!

Aware of the challenges of food sovereignty and environmental transition in Brittany, Bertrand Larcher launched the first buckwheat festival 3 years ago on his educational farm in the heart of the Emerald Coast, surrounded by fields of buckwheat, cider apple trees and a vegetable garden resulting from agroecological work, with the support of the Brittany region.

Tasting Brittany means immersing yourself in the history and culture of buckwheat, cider apples and our memories of crêpes and galettes. So, for this creator of Breizh Café, this farmer-crepe-maker-entrepreneur, experiencing the Breton terroir means sharing moments of know-how and tradition at a Fest Deiz, from the threshing of black gold to the traditional galette saucisse.

A program packed with new features and must-sees:

For its 3rd edition, the Buckwheat Festival is taking a long-term approach to the revival of buckwheat farming, making it a pillar of the circular and local economy, in agreement with the various economic players, and sharing it with the general public.

He gave meaning to the Atelier de la Crêpe's crepe-maker training program, by organizing his first amateur crepe-maker competition in front of a jury of professionals.

Krampouz, a partner in this first amateur crêpier competition, will be contributing its know-how as an EPV (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant - living heritage company) to enable amateur crêpiers to create the best sausage galette or a version of the full galette with vegetables from the farm, while working on their gestures!

And to accompany this artisanal gastronomy competition, the cider fair will be joining the Buckwheat Festival to offer the general public a cider workshop, between the farm's apple trees and the fields, an education in taste to understand the complementary nature of the two cultures.

From the Eveil des Sens workshop to the KID Galette workshop, the Fête du Sarrasin is all about education

From Japan, Bertrand Larcher has retained his commitment to the Good and the Beautiful, and to learning by doing, which he passes on to his teams. The Breizh Café chefs will be taking their turn to share their trade and passion with the youngest and most demanding gourmets, through educational workshops: for the youngest, awakening the senses, and for the oldest, working the gesture.

"Becoming an ambassador of Breton culinary heritage is something you have to learn", Bertrand Larcher reminds us. That's why, for the general public, conferences on the history of buckwheat, a threshing session, a farmers' market and much more will round off this 3rd Buckwheat Festival, which promises to be particularly gourmet.
