BUCKWHEAT FESTIVAL – 2nd EDITION

CELEBRATING BUCKWHEAT
WITH A FESTIVE DAY!

On September 16, 2023, during the Heritage Days weekend, Bertrand Larcher's team and the Maison du Sarrasin will be celebrating the Buckwheat Festival with the general public at the Breizh Café Farm in Saint Coulomb (35).

This second edition, supported by the Regional Council of Brittany, will focus on the sustainable farming practices implemented on the Breizh Café Farm, with the aim of integrating buckwheat production and vegetable farming into the local economy. In line with its Year of Gastronomy award received in 2022, the Buckwheat Festival's 2023 edition will focus on three key areas in its ongoing mission to promote buckwheat: Transmission, Transformation and Environment/Tourism — a day that's all about sharing, featuring a Fest Deiz (a traditional Breton festive gathering).

Transmission: around buckwheat and the crêpe-making profession with the KID GALETTE workshops. From the Farm's vegetable plot, children, guided by Master Crêpe Makers and vegetable growers, will discover the power of buckwheat as a plant,

and its ability to combine with good vegetables to enhance a balanced diet.

Transformation: with the GALETTE LAB, where the Breizh Café Farm will receive a miller and his traditional millstones to talk about buckwheat milling, and with a farmers' market featuring buckwheat products.

Environment/Tourism: to open long-term perspectives for tourism by integrating it into the local environment, reflecting the ambitions of the Breizh Café Farm.

From 9am to 6pm, this second edition will offer the public an opportunity to learn about the origins of buckwheat through a series of talks, but also to attend a harvesting session and, throughout the day, enjoy great food and music.
