ENSEMBLE POUR UNE
AGRICULTURE RAISONNÉE
EVERY DAY, BREIZH CAFE STRIVES TO DEVELOP SUSTAINABLE LOCAL ORGANIC FARMING ON LIVING SOIL.
"Growing up on a farm, my education in taste began in childhood with a quest for quality products and a deep respect for the men and women who work hard every day to make them. For without them, there can be no exceptional cuisine."

RETURN TO THE ROOTS

From an early age, Bertrand Larcher, the founder of Breizh Café, had always dreamed of owning a farm, and an organic one at that. His ambition was to create a farm where he could grow buckwheat, apples and vegetables. After looking around the Cancale and Saint-Malo area, Bertrand Larcher acquired the Farm in Saint-Coulomb, overlooking Anse Duguesclin, in 2017, and turned it into an educational farm known as the Breizh Café Farm. The site was not unfamiliar to him, as he used to picnic there with his family as a child.

At the Breizh Café Farm, the type of agriculture we advocate is agroecology: living soil farming that fosters life. The cycle of natural fertility, the understanding of ecosystems and the soil's ability to function as a recycling unit for living matter are the pillars of this approach. Soil conservation and living soil farming techniques play a central role in the production system.

The Breizh Café Farm aims to promote Breton agricultural life through buckwheat and apples, two iconic products of Brittany's terroir, which we use in our Breizh Café crêperies and restaurants.

As part of the launch of the Breizh Café Farm website, we're featuring articles on farming practices, events and video content on the principles of agroforestry, ecology, living soils, hedgerows and vegetable farming.
